Wonderland Hong Kong Barbeque & Noodle (Kelapa Gading)

First of all, thanks to Boss for making Monday a holiday to replace Christmas holiday which falls on Sunday. Hahaha...it rarely happens so I'm really grateful~ This way I get to have brother sister's bonding time lunch with le bro...it's something that doesn't happen really often lately due to clashed schedules...LOL!

So yeah...few days ago le bro mentioned that he spotted new "Wonderland" shop nearby. Much closer compared to the main one (Which is also located nearby). Since it was one of our favourite shop for Roasted Pork Belly, we decided to give the new shop a try!~

One thing that differs this place from the other place is shown on the picture above. Can you guess what it is? Hint: Find the Roasted Pork! LOLOLOLOL~

As you can see on the lower left of the picture above, they re-fry their roasted pork before serving them to customers. At first, I do have my portion of doubt upon hearing the words "re-fry". From my countless experience of "re-fry", it always leave the food to taste like "yesterday's food" (Different and not nice).

However, it wasn't the case for the "re-fry" done at this shop. I don't know why and how but for sure it makes the Roasted Pork Belly becomes WARM and CRISPYYYY!!!

Wonderland 2 Menu & Price List

Since I've just woke up and not up for big portion, I opted for their "Nasi Campur Biasa" which costs IDR 40k (p/s: Even the "Biasa" also generous in amount la...guarantee full one!). Reasonable price I'd say. Since all 3 items (Roasted Chicken, Roasted Pork Belly & Char Siu) also tasted good. Where else you can find all items within a plate also tasted good? Rare! *coughs*

OH! With their Roasted Pork Belly reigns supreme against the other two dishes of course...*winks*

According to their waiter, the only difference between "Nasi Campur Biasa" and "Nasi Campur Special" is the existence of Roasted Duck in "Nasi Campur Special". No comment for their Roasted Duck since it's been awhile since I last tasted theirs. I've forgotten it's taste...*slapped*

Too bad their "Nasi Hainam" wasn't ready/not available when we came. So have to make do with the plain rice. Definitely go for their "Nasi Hainam" to experience the true joy of eating "Nasi Campur"!

Roasted Chicken, Roasted Pork Belly, Char Siu

Erm...although the Roasted Chicken doesn't look that pretty on the picture, I personally think it's pretty good in terms of taste. Wasn't the best but wasn't the worst either. Plus point for it being well marinated that it does have taste even down to the last bits. Salty in a good way. Oh...it tasted fresh and have the right kind of firmness...In case you like firm one compared to smooth slightly uncooked one which you often seen in a Steamed Chicken Dish.

Char siu is ok ok. Pretty much the same mark as I'd give to their Roasted Chicken. Ok kind of firmness and they're all lean meat. No fatty parts! If you enjoy lean meat then you'll love this. But as I'm a fan of juicy caramelized charsiu over full lean meat, So it's only an OK from me.

What about their Salted Veggie Soup? Hmm...to be honest it's plain. If you love Salted Veggie Soup so much I'd recommend getting them at BUANA 94 (Cafe Tenda Apartment Wisma Gading Permai) instead. They serve delicious Salted Veggie with Pork Ribs!! (p/s: sometimes the pork tasted like yesterday's pork though...it's luck based. But soup wise it seems like their taste proven consistent throughout the many times I've tasted them)

Last but not least, the main reason that keeps us bro and sis keep coming for more...their DELICIOUS ROASTED PORK BELLY! I'd give away my boiled egg and the other two on my plate but never for the Roasted Pork Belly! LOLOLOLOL...NEVER!! It's WARM...It's CRISPY...It's TASTY!!! Definitely give this one a priority to try if you ever come to this place! It's one of my favourite~~

Anway, hope in some way I've contributed "new" place to try out...lolololol...Considered as new if you've never been to their main branch la...*coughs*

Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu

GOOD NEWS to Gakky's fellow fans!! She starred in this new Japanese drama called "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu" (逃げるは恥だが役に立つ).

Nigeru_wa_Haji_da_ga_Yaku_ni_Tatsu
Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu

Somehow it feels like more and more manga turned into live actions movie or drama. To some extent I'm happy coz it feels like it'd be a bridge between a manga reader and non manga reader. It helps to bring a message that manga can be enjoyed by any age. Of course I'm happy for the mangaka/writer as well. Means that their work got noticed, have a chance to spread their hardwork to wider viewer and of course...royalties? That way they can continue to do more and more awesome works! Win win solution~ *throws confetti

So what's good about this drama? Hmm...If you enjoy light comedy, marriage contract themed storyline then give this a go. Above all...if you like Aragaki Yui like I do...then PLEASE WATCH THIS DRAMA! Hahahaha...that's more than enough reason ok!

Personally I find this drama to be pretty interesting despite the overly used "marriage contract" concept. How to say this ah...hmm...apart from the well chosen casts, the storyline itself also kinda fresh. It's not the usual RICH MAN x POOR WOMAN marriage contract.

This story is about a woman called Moriyama Mikuri (25) who isn't able to land on a job despite having a graduate degree in Psychology. The story starts when Mikuri's father asked her to work as a housekeeper for his client called Tsuzaki Hiramasa (36). Everything was smooth till Mikuri's parents decided to move to another area to live. She thought of an idea of something like marriage contract where she would get married to Tsuzaki, handles all the housekeeping job around the house and earns salary from it. That way she could continue doing the job, earn salary and able to stay at the current city she's living at. Luckily Tsuzaki was able to accept the idea and that's how the story starts...Hahaha. Geezz...I think I'm pretty bad at explaining. But I believe you guys get the rough image of what this drama is all about. Bubbly female character + Nerd guy = Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu!

Nigeru_wa_Haji_da_ga_Yaku_ni_Tatsu_2

Nigeru_wa_Haji_da_ga_Yaku_ni_Tatsu_3

At first glance, the main male lead might look pretty plain. But all hail to glasses! It makes every character all the more interesting! HAHAHAHA...what do you think? Glasses YES? NAY? *Please excuse this female who love glasses...trololololol* Not to forget his manly voice...so soothing to the ear!

Oh one more thing as we talk about voice!! As I was reading through Asianwiki, I found out that the main male lead...Hoshino Gen (星野 源) was the voice of Buddha in Saint Oniisan (聖☆おにいさん). Fyi, it was one of my favourite anime/manga. Small world I thought...I didn't see that coming!

A scene from Saint Oniisan anime

Makes me more eager to watch this drama even more...LOLOLOL! Must support le beloved Aragaki Yui (新垣結衣) as well as the voice of Buddha, Hoshino Gen (星野 源).

If this wasn't enough, I must add that the ending song was GOOD too! So catchy, happy and niceeeeeeeeeee! And guess what? It was Hoshino Gen (星野 源) who sang them! Out of a sudden I'm visualizing that Buddha chara from the anime dancing to that song. Trololololol~~~

Here's the MV if you're interested to give this song a try...

Hoshino Gen (星野 源) -

That's all for today's share...Hope you'll enjoy them! HAPPY WEEKEND! :)

Sawatdee Ka Bangkok! (Day Four - PART TWO)

Right after some shopping in Chatuchak, we were extremely tired. So we decided to go back to the hotel. Mainly to drop our items as well as to refresh a lil bit before moving to Asiatique.

ASIATIQUE

The first thing I saw right after getting down from the taxi

First impression on Asiatique? I think it's an interesting place to hang out. Considering that there's beautiful buildings, many restaurants, beautiful scenery and good ambiance. Definitely insta worthy! Been seeing this place ALOT in le friends' facebook photo album whenever the went to Bangkok that I wondered how it is in real life. To be able to see them in real actual eyes is twice the awesomeness~~

But as we went there for the sake of watching Calypso Cabaret Show, we didn't really get the chance to move around that much. Reach there like in the evening...so only managed to move around a lil bit and had our dinner at a restaurant that Jas Jas aunt told her about. (Was it aunt or friend or relatives? This is the downside of not blogging right after the event...Forgot details...sobs)

Looks interesting but didn't get the chance to try it

Random photo...I think I like that tall heels...hahaha

Buildings that made me feel like I'm in some western countries...lol

Love the ambiance

Interesting decor

This is what I imagined Australia would be like since I've never been there...maybe not. LOL!

Ventriloquist Show? Puppet Shows?

Ferris Wheel~

Always nice to see Japanese writings anywhere I go

Look atas mia place

Even the floor are nice~

 BAAN KHANITHA
(Thai Cuisine)

Had our dinner at this restaurant. We were lucky as we don't have to queue to get in. Ambiance are great. I think it would be greater if we were able to sit on the seat next to the river. That way we'll get to see the beautiful Chao Phraya River at night. It is a river that got me reminiscing the good old school days. History class to be exact. For that is when we saw Chao Phraya on the text book. Who would have known that I'd get to see them in person! Awesome~

Curious of that "Zombie" drink but ended up having Lemon Juice instead...why oh why...

My drink

Elie's Watermelon Juice

Jas Jas Tea

Crowded at the edge as that's where people get to get on a cruise/boat or  have a look at the river

Seafood Som Tam?

Some Seafood Fried Rice

Tom Yam

Pla Samlee Phao Song Kruang | Grilled cotton fish with Thai herbs in banana wrap

Food wise it was good. Not much to comment as I'm not really a seafood lover. Apart from crab, salmon and pomfret fish. This place falls on the pricier side but I think it's worth trying if you have extra money to splurge on.

After the stomach was filled, we went for another short stroll...then here's some things we spotted along the way...

Is that you Batman car? Hahaha

Love padlocks!

Apparently you can try this in Asiatique too. In case you wanted to try but didn't get the chance to visit Namsan Tower in Korea yet. Fun stuff which I'd like to try some day if God allows...*winks*

Why is she alone? Shouldn't there be a pair?

Get to choose your padlock here

How it looked like

CALYPSO
(Cabaret Shows)

Calypso in Asiatique

Nice neon...haha

Ticket Counter

When it's time for the shows, you'll have to went up the stairs across from this ticket counter shown above. Then you'll reach a place like shown below...

Our venue was the one up the stairs

It seems like they have restaurant too

Yep...that's the place to go to!

And behold...

A place like no others...
(Erm...coz I've never been to place like this before la)

Jeng! Jeng! Jeng!

*adds in drum rolls*

TADAAAA~~

Beautiful in Red

It's so prettyyyyyyy~~~ LOVE IT!!!

Our ticket

Upon seating, there would be waiter who would take your drink order. It's a complimentary drink given to everyone who bought the show ticket. We went their alcoholic drink this time. Not the pure vodka, gin, etc. More like a mixture of soda drink with vodka, etc. So it's all good~

Had fun with the overall performance. If you haven't been to one then you should give it a try. It's a nice experience to have. Plus I can't stop complimenting the red ambiance! Loveee~

At the end of the show, you get a chance to take picture with any of these amazing ladies. There were lining up outside the exit door for you to get a picture with them. For a price of course. Wasn't sure on how much it costs. I think this too would be a nice experience. But am to shy to get near to these ladies. So yeah...no picture taken with them. *sobs*

So ngam my fav was the one standing first and second in line

Gold Dust Man

Some live performance

After the show, we went to Chinatown. Can't remember where it's located. According to the taxi driver, there's more than one Chinatown in BKK. So we asked him to bring us to the nearest one. Unfortunately, almost every shop were closed by the time we reached there. So we did absolutely nothing but to eat at some random shop to console ourselves a little bit. Though I believe none of us is hungry yet. Konon, die die must do something so that it doesn't feels like we come in vain. LOL.

Sky Bar rooftop at Lebua State Tower

I think the best thing after the cabaret show was to spot this building on our way back to the hotel. If you've watched Hangover 2 before, you'll understand what I'm talking about. This is one of their filming site in Bangkok. So beautiful even from afar...This is the view from the front seat of a taxi...lolololol...Life is good.
